Mitchell's Story

Great pictures Mitchell!
We really liked your clear speaking and you had a lot to share.
We thought for next time try to use different beginnings instead of, "This is...."

Wow! What a first week!

This week the Crickets reading group put together a play from the 'Fiddle-dee-dee' book. It is called 'Don't Hurt Me!'

Well done Jack, Bonny, Kassia, Kendall, Elise and Gareth!

In the bookbags there are 3 notices. The weekly newsletter, Skyline walk and Bike Wise day information. Please read these important notices. Thank you for returning the bike survey and the Outdoor Education notices. Remember if you have paid your stationery you do not have to pay for ODE again. That was a mistake on the notice.

Check out this bikewize website: http://www.bikewise.co.nz/

Gareth, Uta and Mitchell it is your week next week for telling us all about yourselves. We can't wait to hear about you!

Hectors World

Kia ora Simon! Awesome to see you are following us!
Our school has joined many other schools throughout New Zealand to be an Enviro School. Simon is with Wanaka Waste Busters but has worked with the Otago University to put together a very userfriendly Enviro School resource. Our school is beginning the year looking at finding ways to create and live in a healthy and sustainable community. Simon will be helping us and the children will just think he is great. I had Simon teaching in Room 23 last year as we were wanting to get going and looked at 'How to Beautify our School'.

Our childrens' environment also includes the digital environment. As you are on the internet and will be an internet user you will appreciate what a scary place it can be. Children need to be taught how to keep themselves safe and understand why. Could you please follow this link to Hectors World with your child and do all the activities. Hectors World is about internet safety but in a child friendly way. Children who do this at home will be used as experts in the class. They will teach the other children how to use the computer! Go to it!

Class of 2009 WELCOME!

Holidays are over already! Where did they go? I hope everyone had a really good break and are looking forward to an exciting year of learning.

Please read the newsletter. It will be in your child's bookbag this week but if you missed it you can find it here on the right hand side at the top.

I have only just put this blog together and it is really neat to see a parent has already found it and has also voted on the poll. Thank you!
